Ohio Open Doors -- The Cambrian

Wed, September 12, 20181:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Ohio Open Doors is a state-wide program designed to invite communities to see the inside doors that are often closed.

Take this opportunity to go inside the front lobby of The Cambrian and see the tile dragon dating back to the building's 1901 life as an European-styled hotel.

The dragon pays homage to the Welsh heritage of the original builder Edwin Jones whose parents were Welsh immigrants in the early 1800s. The dragon was once a part of the front lobby floor and was reinstalled on an interior wall when the building was renovate into housing by the Jackson Metropolitan Housing Authority and opened in 1985.

Ohio Open Doors activities are free and staffed with historians who can answer questions about the buildings. The event is a perfect opportunity to go inside and see.
